Meet Our Interim Rector, the Rev. Canon Rosemari Sullivan
The Rev. Canon Rosemari Sullivan began serving as the Interim Rector of St. Michael’s on February 1, 2017. Canon Sullivan served as one of two Special Coordinators for Haiti on the staff of the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church (2010 – 2014). Canon Sullivan retired as Rector of St. Paul’s Episcopal Church, Rock Creek Parish, Washington, DC in November 2011.
Following her ordination, Canon Sullivan served as Associate Rector of Grace Church, Alexandria and Rector of The Church of St Clement, Alexandria, and later she served as rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rock Creek Parish, Washington, DC. She has held many significant positions in the Episcopal Church, including serving as one of two Special Coordinators for Haiti on the staff of the Presiding Bishop of The Episcopal Church (2010-2014) and as Executive Officer and Secretary of General Convention (1999-2005). She has strong ties with the Virginia Theological Seminary where she served as Director of Alumni Affairs.
Currently, Canon Sullivan serves as a Trustee of Goodwin House Incorporated. She was a founding member and Chair of the Arlington-Alexandria Coalition for the Homeless and served on Board of the Evangelical Education Society and the Board of So That Others May Eat.
She holds both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Social Work from the Catholic University of America. In 1985, Canon Sullivan earned a Master of Divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary and in 2009 a Doctor of Ministry from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C. Virginia Theological Seminary awarded Mrs. Sullivan the degree of Doctor in Divinity, honoris causa, in 2005. In 2003, the Diocese of Columbia elected the Reverend Sullivan an honorary Canon of the Cathedral in Bogota.
She is married to Edmund (Ted) Sullivan and they have two adult children and four perfect grandchildren!

Living Generously More than what we do with our financial resources, though that is important, to live generously we are also called to be open to new ideas, to welcome the stranger, to volunteer often, and to forgive those who have offended us. About Our History St. Michael's was formed in 1945, and the early parish met in borrowed space until moving into the newly-constructed church building in 1948. Learn about our History.
Tour the Sanctuary The walls of St. Michael's nave and sanctuary are graced by stained glass windows telling the story of the Life of Christ. Also placed on the walls of the nave and sanctuary are bronze reliefs of fourteen Stations of the Cross associated with Good Friday.
