Governance of St. Michael's is the responsibility of the Rector and Vestry, in accordance with the Constitution and Canons of the Episcopal Diocese of Virginia. The Vestry has also chartered a number of committees to assist with governance and stewardship at St. Michael's. At the beginning of each year, the parish holds an Annual Meeting to discuss parish affairs and elect new vestry members. Click here for our Annual Report, which provides more detail on all the missions and ministries of St. Michael's.
About the Vestry Lay persons who are confirmed adult communicants in good standing of the church are eligible to serve on the Vestry of St. Michael's, which consists of up to twelve members. Vestry members are elected at the St. Michael's annual meeting to serve three-year terms, and approximately one-third of the Vestry is elected each year. Vestry members may not serve two terms in succession.
Strategic Planning: Steps Along the Path 2017-2020 In mid-2016 the Vestry commissioned a Vision & Planning Committee to produce a strategic plan that would benefit from parish engagement and that would provide the Vestry with a planning resource for parish-wide decision-making. In March 2017 the Committee produced a draft plan and solicited comments from members of the parish. In May the Vestry approved the final plan. Click here to download Steps Along the Path 2017-2020.
