Worship at St. Michael's On Sundays at St. Michael's we have two services, at 8:00 AM and 10:00 AM, at both of which we offer the sacrament of Holy Eucharist from the Book of Common Prayer, although we provide a separately printed Order of Worship which many find easier to follow. Most Sundays during the school year we also have a Children's Chapel for children from pre-kindergarten through second grade, using a shorter, more simplified service. The children join their parents in church to receive communion.
Episcopal Worship Sunday Eucharist at St. Michael's, celebrated at both services, is a comprehensive service of both Word and Sacrament. We read from the Bible, we recite or sing a psalm, and we listen to a sermon. Then we pray for the Church and the world, and we ask God's forgiveness for our sins. Finally, we greet one another in the peace of Christ and move to the sacramental service of the Holy Communion.
At services of Holy Eucharist, all baptized persons are welcome to receive holy communion. We also offer blessings to those who for any reason are not able or not comfortable receiving this sacrament. Children are always welcome at the communion rail. Learn more about Episcopal Worship
Music at St. Michael's Music is an important part of our worship together. The hymns we sing are found in the 1982 Hymnal and in the Wonder, Love and Praise hymnal. During the school year our Youth Choir sings at the 10:00 AM Sunday service at least once each month, and the Adult Choir sings at the 10:00 AM Sunday service at least three times each month. In the summer months the Adult Choir sings on selected Sundays. Learn more about our Music program
Adult Education Many Sundays during the year an Adult Forum is held following the 10:00 AM service. Other Adult Education events take place during the rest of the week. Learn more
Children and Youth At the 10:00 AM service we have Children's Chapel for children from pre-kindergarten through second grade. Younger children rejoin their parents in the Sanctuary prior to Communion. Older children are invited to participate in the regular services with their parents. Sunday School classes for all youth are held following the 10:00 AM service during the school year. Learn more about Children's Chapel and Sunday School
Child Care on Sundays Parents are welcome to bring children of all ages with them to services at St. Michael's. But as a convenience to parents, during both the Sunday morningserviceswe offer professionally-staffed child care for infants and toddlers.
There are many opportunities for members of St. Michael's to be involved in leading worship. Please see our Ministries page for more information.
